Voted as 2009 Nightclub of the Year by the Academy of Country Music Awards, Joe's Sports Bar on Weed Street in Illinois is truly one hot spot you'll want to visit. This isn't your run of the mill sports bar by a long shot. Every Friday is country night and at Joe's Sports Bar, there's no holding back on the fun. Live music, private parties, comedy, March madness, Quarter beer Tuesdays, NFL football, NCAA and much more are some of the reasons people come back to Joe's Sports Bar time and time again. More than 110 plasma televisions ensure that you don't miss a minute of the action.
Public events at Joe's Sports Bar are for adults 21 years of age and older. Some exceptions are made for privately held events but management is best consulted before plans are made. Parties for as few as 15 people or as many as 2,000 are possible at this great party place. Full on-site lighting and sound, along with splendid AV are all available for your corporate party, bachelor or bachelorette event, surprise birthday party or other event you may have in mind. The outdoor patio offers a 20 foot projection screen to let you party under the stars and catch every moment of your game as well.
Available options for heading over to Joe's Sports Bar include the Clubhouse with a 50-foot stage and space for up to 800. The Chapter Room accommodates up to 250 with private flat screens in each booth. The Red Room is the VIP space for up to 200 people and has a great view of the stage. The VIP Loft Lounge intimately holds up to 70 people in an upscale atmosphere that's sure to please even the most discriminating tastes. The Outdoor Patio Heated Party Room brings the comfort of outside without the cold in less warm months.
For more than 25 years, Metro has been celebrating American and British rock in roll with performances by musical greats such as Prince, George Clinton, Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop, just to name a few. Many groups have continued their rise to stardom and the larger venues via Metro. Before they were major stars, names like Billy Idol, Depeche Mode and Killing Joke were on the stage at Metro. Combining the best of local, regional and national artists has helped Metro to become one of the premier new music venues. Owner Joe Shanahan started Metro as personal parties for his friends in a loft apartment.
When the parties outgrew the loft, the Metro was born into a Swedish Community Center that was originally built in 1927. Today, the Metro and Smart Bar, located at 3730 N. Clark Street still hosts some of the best existing and up and coming talent in the world. It's also the perfect location to have a private event. Professional staff and breathtaking architecture are the perfect backdrop for a wedding, cocktail party, holiday party, catered wedding reception featuring a band or anything else you can come up with for your special event.
All ages are welcome to attend events that end at 10 p.m. Late shows are for those 18 years of age and old and you must show two forms of identification. Smart Bar events are for those 21 and older unless exceptions are noted. Seating for 1,100 is arranged into balcony and main floor arrangements. Seats on the main floor are an intimate 25 feet from the stage, sure to delight those who want to be up close and personal with the performance. The Metro is also entirely smoke free, assuring a clean atmosphere for those who don't smoke.
